CASA
About National CASA
In 1989, Kappa Alpha Theta Fraternity adopted National CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) as its national philanthropy. CASA volunteers are trained community volunteers who speak on behalf of abused and neglected children in court. They research the child's background details to help the court make a sound decision about the child's future.
How Does Theta Support CASA?
Since 1989, the Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation has provided grant support to National CASA. To date, the Foundation is proud to have contributed more than $900,000 to fund National CASA’s public awareness efforts, which include educational materials, publications, and the Kappa Alpha Theta Program Director of the Year award. Gifts from individual donors, college chapters, and alumnae chapters make the Foundation’s support of the National CASA grant possible.
How Do Alpha Chi Thetas Support CASA?
The Alpha Chi Chapter at Purdue helps CASA by raising money through hosting the annual Theta-Beta Grill Off. Every year, we clear out our parking lot and fraternities and sororities team up to see who can cook the best meal. Teams compete to be voted for having the best meal and the best theme.
This past year at Theta-Beta Grill Off was very successful We raised over $6000 and had 21 teams, the most we have ever had. We also spiced up the event this year by having a DJ, a hot-dog eating contest, and a dunk tank!
In addition to Theta-Beta Grill Off, Thetas are supporting CASA this semester by volunteering at the CASA Halloween Party in Tippecanoe County . We will be helping with face painting and other Halloween games. For more information about this event, please see the flier in the Philanthropy folder at the bottom of this page. Later this semester we will be having a wrapping party where we will wrap gifts for CASA kids so that they can have a gift to open on Christmas day.

What is the Foundation?
The Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation is a 501(c)3 charitable and educational tax-exempt organization, independent from the Fraternity, whose mission is to link members with resources to help them reach their fullest potential and to make a difference in the world. Created by Thetas for Thetas, the Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation is dedicated to raising money for scholarships, educational and leadership grants, and financial hardship grants for our Kappa Alpha Theta members.
How Does Theta Support the Foundation?
Chapters can support the Foundation through their annual fundraisers by sharing a portion of their proceeds with the Foundation. Like individuals, they can also establish named endowed funds. Alumnae chapters are required to make an annual unrestricted donation to the Foundation and a restricted gift to the Friendship Fund. College chapters are encouraged to give a gift annually and must to do so to be eligible for the Fraternity's top convention awards.
How Does the Foundation Support the Fraternity?
In return, the Foundation supports the Fraternity, helping to make the Fraternity's educational and leadership programs possible through an annual grant. This allows the Fraternity to direct resources to other important programming. The Foundation's vision is to one day be able to give every Theta every opportunity to make a difference. For this reason, the Fraternity and its members recognize the importance of supporting the Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation in promoting our values of highest scholarship and widest influence for good.
